Dr. Arie Birkenfeld, MD

Dr. Arie Birkenfeld has been actively involved in patient care as well as academic teaching and research in the field of infertility and reproductive medicine for more than 25 years.Dr. Birkenfeld holds memberships in The American Fertility Society (American Society of Reproductive Medicine), The American Medical Association, is a founding member of The North American Menopause Society and an Associate member of ACOG.

Among Dr. Birkenfeld's many achievements is the study of normal and abnormal uterine lining (endometrium) which shed light on our understanding of the effects of commonly used fertility drugs on the endometrium and implantation.

Dr. Birkenfeld received his medical training at Jerusalem's Hadassah Hebrew University School of Medicine and served his full obstetrics and gynecology residency at Hadassah University Hospital, obtaining Board Certification in 1985. At Hadassah, Dr. Birkenfeld supervised the infertility and menopause program and won the Matityahu Steich Faculty Prize for Reproductive Research. He completed a research fellowship in reproductive biology at Germany's Technical University in Aachen, RWTH. In 1989 he joined the Dept. of Obstetrics Gynecology & Reproductive Science at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City where he also served as the Resident’s Research Coordinator.

Dr. Birkenfeld joined The Diamond Institute in 1992, bringing with him extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility and menopause. He holds licensure in New Jersey and New York. Dr. Birkenfeld has published extensively and has written many original articles, reviews, and book Chapters, he has lectured at national and international conferences, workshops, and to the public in the field of reproductive endocrinology.

 

Dr. Matan Yemini, MD

For more than 25 years, Dr. Matan Yemini has focused his interest, practice, and research on the spectrum of issues associated with reproductive endocrinology and infertility treatment.

A 1978 graduate of Jerusalem's Hadassah Hebrew University School of Medicine, Dr. Yemini completed an obstetrics and gynecology residency at Kaplan University Hospital in Rehovot, Israel, obtaining his board certification in 1986. Dr. Yemini trained in reproductive endocrinology at Kaplan Medical Center's Division of Reproductive Medicine and conducted his basic research at the Weitzman Institute for Science. He performed an infertility fellowship at Tel Aviv's Shiba Medical Center and later developed and directed Kaplan University Hospital’s IVF clinical and training program. He served as a senior physician in the Division of Reproductive Medicine there until 1987, when he joined the University of Miami School of Medicine as director of the IVF
laboratory.

Dr. Yemini joined Diamond Institute in 1989 with the task of further developing the Institute's advanced reproductive technology program. He has published extensively and lectured on human reproduction to the medical community and to the public at national and international conferences and workshops. He holds a New Jersey license and memberships in the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, formerly the American Fertility Society; the American Society of Reproductive Immunology; the American Medical Association; the Society for the Study of Reproduction; and the North American Menopause Society.

 

Dr. Ndidiamaka Onwubalili, MD

Dr. Ndidi Onwubalili joins the Diamond Institute for Fertility after completing subspecialty fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at New Jersey Medical Scool-UMDNJ.

Dr. Onwubalili received her undergraduate education at Georgian Court College in Lakewood, New Jersey. She graduated summa cum laude with honors in Biology. She went on to medical school at Dartmouth Medical
School in Hanover, New Hampshire. She completed her residency training in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University Medical Center where she was selected as Administrative Chief Resident for the department.

During fellowship, Dr. Onwubalili research was presented at numerous national forums including annual meetings for the Society for Gynecologic Investigation, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Endocrine Society. She has also coauthored review papers and a book chapter.

Dr. Onwubalili is an active candidate for board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and an active member of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation and the Endocrine Society. Her clinical and research focus includes polycystic ovarian syndrome, fertility preservation, uterine fibroids and minimally invasive surgery.
